Traditional Ceremony - South African Indian ceremony

South African Indian weddings vary widely by community and faith — Hindu (Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, and North Indian rites all differ), Muslim, and Christian celebrations follow different structures. Many run over several days, with pre-wedding events such as mehndi or a sangeet, a religious ceremony, and a separate reception.

Too variable for a single range Budget per event rather than as one figure — several smaller days can total well above a single large one. Catering and attire repeat across days and are usually the two biggest multipliers.

The number of events, not the size of any one of them, is what drives the planning here — each day can need its own venue, catering, guest list, and attire, and a plan built around a single wedding day will under-scope all of it.

When it should happen

Confirm the officiant — priest, imam, or minister — and the religious calendar first, since auspicious dates and religious requirements constrain the date far more tightly than venue availability does. Then work outwards to the other events.

Which community's rites are you following, and does each family expect the same ones?
How many events are there, and does each need its own venue, catering, and guest list?
Who is the officiant, and what does the ceremony require of the venue — fire, open space, specific timing?
Are there auspicious dates or times that constrain the schedule?
How many outfits are needed across the days, and what are the lead times for each?

Write out every event, its host, its venue, and its guest list on one page before booking anything — the most common failure in a multi-day wedding isn't any single event going wrong, it's discovering late that two of them were quietly assumed to be the same event by different people.
