Décor & Florals
Décor and florals shape the look and feel of both ceremony and reception — table settings, florals, draping, and lighting all fall under this category.
Why it matters
This is where a venue's blank space becomes recognisably 'your' wedding — it's highly visible in photos, and costs can escalate quickly once florals, hired furniture, and lighting are added piece by piece.
When it should happen
4–6 months before the date, once the venue and colour palette are confirmed; finalise florals specifically 2–3 months out, since fresh flower availability is seasonal.
Questions to ask
- Are hired items (vases, linen, furniture) included, or billed separately?
- Which flowers are in season on the wedding date, and what's the cost difference for out-of-season blooms?
- Does the quote include setup and breakdown, or is that a separate labour charge?
- Can they work within the venue's existing décor restrictions (e.g. open-flame rules)?
Mistakes to avoid
- Choosing flowers without checking seasonal availability, driving costs up unexpectedly.
- Forgetting that hired furniture/linen is often priced per item and adds up fast.
- Not confirming setup/breakdown timing against the venue's access hours.
Worth knowing
Ask to see florals in person or via a recent real-wedding gallery, not just a mood board — colour and fullness can look very different in person than in a sample photo.
